SMS

I have found the ultimate use for SMS: playing games. Great fun, and it looks stupid at the same time. Another use for SMS is a seismograph. SMS is actually quite fun. I think I enjoy it. Of course, SMS needs to be correctly calibrated first.

So I saw the movie. I haven't read the book. But if the movie is anything to go by, I don't want to read the book. (More)

I'm too tired to rant. So I can make a ranty list thing instead. Because I am cool, and God is awesome. And so are people. Some people particularly... (More)

A trip away

Posted by yomcat 10:59 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (0) | Reviews
On Saturday, I went away. And I left my phones at home (some people didn't take that too well. Oh well. Screw them (in a nice way (-:)). I went up to Palmy to see a play that Ben's Dad was acting it. That guy is a nutter. It was an awesome play.
The trip itself was great as well. It had everything that a good trip away needs: A dog, icecream, water, trespassing, hitchhikers, soccer ball and yomcat. And stuff that a good trip doesn't need: illness, Palmy and yomcat. (More)

I'm here at Uni. In the holidays. Bored (waiting for work). But I have a Dominion Post (for free. Yay (-:). This has about an hour or so worth of puzzles in it (crosswords, a Sudoku and some other stuff maybe), yet I don't have a pen. So instead I went up to the Mac lab, and am using the Internet (NZ sites only, no https, so not the best) and getting generally bored. I'm on an eMac, with a screwed up version of Tiger.
But I have a "rant" lined up. I'll just type it up now. Expect a long, rambling, discussion... (More)

RSS

I was recently asked by someone what RSS feeds are. So I'll do a little blurb. Most of this content is shamelessly ripped off from the Internet.
RSS: (Rich Site Summary or RDF [Resource Description Framework] Site Summary). An XML format for sharing content among different Web sites such as news items. How does it work? A Web site can allow other sites to publish some of its content by creating an RSS document and registers the document with an RSS publisher. A web publisher can post a link to the rss feed so users can read the distributed content on his/her site. Syndicated content can can include news feeds, listings of events, stories, headlines, etc. (More)

I just finished watching !Hero, and it's awesome. I never knew Operas could be good (with the exception of the web browser), but this is better than good. I highly recommend it. (More)

It has been quite an eventful evening/night. I screwed round on a couch for large portions of the day. Even had a great cell group (with cookies, candy and no Job or Jonah :'(). Then Ratner came and got me. We headed into town. (More)

I went to this movie last night. It was good. I took my towel. If you've read the book (not books, it doesn't go that far) then I recommend it. If not, I still recommend it, but you might not get it. Whatever you do, don't forget your towel. (More)

Thanks Google :-)

I have recently moved NZ Tuatara over to a new server. As of now, the site isn't up yet, only a holder page. I'm too lazy to put it up.
But the old site is gone. And the pages. And I didn't have a backup that was anywhere near current. So I went along to my great friend, Google, and asked it for the pages. It spat them out, source code and all.
Thanks Google.

Note: The last time I wrote this post, I got most of the way through and then my computer decided that 14 days was too long without a reboot, and got booted from the net, sparking a kernel panic and crash.
Saturday started with the sweet sound of Al's voice. It was quickly drowned out by a groggy me, saying "It's too early". It was 0630 and I had had about 2 hours of sleep (most probably less) that morning. I slowly got out of bed and even more slowly headed over to breakfast, once I gained directions and some people to go with. Breakfast was some nice pancakes, with maple syrup. If I remember correctly, I had a Jeremy Camp song going through my head. At around 0900, me and a few other people, in a few small groups, decided to head up to Mainstage to catch the morning meeting. There was the Parachute worship band (made specially for Parachute 05) and Jeff Deyo did a song. (More)

The Lads

They came to All Saints last night. It was awesome. Loud, near the sub, and moshing away. Lots of fun. Phono were good (like normal), and played a few new songs. Tim Costley played, but I didn't really get into his stuff as much as I did with everything else. He was still pretty good. Nice and loud, even way back in the 2nd row of seats. Nice warmup for Parachute, which I have finally payed for. Yay. :-)
I give the concert full marks. (More)

WWDC 2004 Keynote

Posted by yomcat 04:00 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (0) | Reviews
It's just finsihed. No live streaming this time (Bad), but I found an IRC channel run by MacRumors, which was no where near as good, but good enough. iChat AV, Safari, QuickTime and stuff were all updated, inside Tiger. Some other new features that I won't understand until I get Tiger, in the 1st half of 2005. Oh yeah, 30-inch cinema displays as well. Screw 23-inch (which has a new look). My favourite would have to be the new iChat AV. It can now have up to 10 audio and 3 video connections going. So now it's better than a phone ;-).
Overall, the WWDC Keynote gets a 8/10. No new Macs, but Tiger. Redmond, start your photocopiers!

I just finished reading a book about the Rescue at Entebbe. It was pretty cool. I give it 8/10.

I saw The Passion of the Christ last night with church and Jo. It was immensely powerful and moving. The violence wasn't that bad. I reckon that the media have just blown the movie out of the water, given the subject matter. I barely noticed the subtitles. It was probably the most realistic movie I've seen, but I have been able to pick a few holes in it (mainly to do with Catholic traditions) and minor details are wrong, but thats something called "Hollywood"
I give it 10/10.
