So I'm going to Canberra later in this year. On a desert bus, and a plane, for some maths. (More)20 Jul, 2010
At any given time, I have a finite number of questions bouncing around in my head. Here is a sample (excluding all the ones related to my thesis, and they'll make no sense to the two of you that read this). Some are serious, some are silly. Some are both. Some are only semi-decidable. (More)17 Jun, 2010
The first round of 16 matches has just been completed. And what a way to end it. Messiest goal so far, but Switzerland are going to party long and hard... (More)14 Apr, 2010
So I'm going to CU camp this weekend. Supposedly, to learn about Romans (though I put to pick up chics on my form). Since I'm so whipped, here are some things I'm not allowed to do. (More)06 Apr, 2010
All of these have the potential to make interesting sermons. Where "interesting" could mean one of a bunch of things... (More)17 Mar, 2010
Here are the rules. Blatantly stolen from the Internet. (More)13 Mar, 2010
On Wednesday, I am giving a talk, nominally about what I got up to all summer. This talk is currently unnamed, but it could do with a name. Vote. (More)19 Jan, 2010
These are a few things I've noticed on the Internet. Predominately on Facebook (which is quickly turning into 4chan). And Bayliss has been excluded, because his spelling is atrocious anyway. (More)27 Dec, 2009
Last one. In other news, Remnant Books and Cards is over, and I'm getting tired of certain parts of the Internet, and most likely will take a break. (More)14 Dec, 2009
Read down the list until you get to something that makes sense. (More)03 Dec, 2009
Yes, basically everyone missed it. Even the in-laws were a day late. (More)02 Dec, 2009
In completely unrelated news, I got First Class Honours. (More)24 Nov, 2009

All of these words exist. And there are more, my dictionary gave up. (More)13 Nov, 2009
That is a long title. (More)05 Nov, 2009
I would do a list of bands that suck, but it wouldn't be very long. (More)31 Oct, 2009
You're at home, and some kids come knocking on the door asking for candy... (More)28 Oct, 2009
These are as a lecturer. And only really work in Maths. (More)20 Oct, 2009
I think I'll just make lots of unjustified, stupid lists. It's not like I've got any Set Theory to do or anything like that. (More)19 Oct, 2009
You can think of this as a continuation of the "things that suck" series, but in a different way. And stupid means something different every time. Kinda. Let alone the definition of "places"... (More)08 Sep, 2009
Series Continuation. Once again, it's not exhaustive, in no particular order, and without reasons. (More)
ABOUT ME
I'm Michael Welsh (or yomcat), a 23 year old something from Wellington, New Zealand. I was married on the 23rd of February 2008 to Melissa. I enjoy discrete mathematics mainly, and have a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics. I have an iMac, called Gordon (named after my grandfather), and my "something small for Uni", known as Zepto. Oh, and Steve. Currently, I am doing my Masters, in the area of Matroids. I have a rather large (entire wall) blackboard in my room (3.24m2), and a little (A4) one that lives in my bag. I like long walks in the forest, playing computer games and stat whoring.
