Questions

Posted by yomcat 21:14 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (1) | Serious Stuff | Lists
At any given time, I have a finite number of questions bouncing around in my head. Here is a sample (excluding all the ones related to my thesis, and they'll make no sense to the two of you that read this). Some are serious, some are silly. Some are both. Some are only semi-decidable. (More)

I dunno

Well, this is called I dunno because I dunno what to call it. That's a good enough reason for me. After all, it is (just like worship) all about me. (More)

On Sunday, at church there was a talk on Truth, Love and Tolerance. I found myself disagreeing with large portions of the first two (there were 3 speakers) mini-sermons. The love one was because love is something that I've been thinking about lately (with my upcoming wedding) and I have some slightly different ideas of what love is all about (you may have to wait for my wedding to hear them though) (More)

So, I've been skipping meals. Alot of meals. Melissa thinks it's why I'm so out of it on Saturdays and Sundays (I tend to agree), so I've decided to start eating proper dinners (that the important meal - lunch I get easy (me and Melissa have a little something going on...)). (More)

Good Things

Posted by yomcat 10:40 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (3) | Serious Stuff
I've been feeling down a little recently. I think it has something to do with the absolute hiding I took on Saturday biking to and from work during that storm. Ouch. Anyway, when I'm feeling down, I like to think on good things (as the back of Melissa's phone says). These are a few of the things I like to think on. Or about. Oe re-eanct. Yea... (More)

Nice story:
A farmer and his son were travelling to the city to sell their produce. The dad relaxed while his son goaded the ox to go faster. When they passed a friend's house the older man insisted they stop and visit. Later, back on the road, he took the slow, scenic route. At dusk he stopped for the night. Frustrated and angry his son said, "You're more interested in sunsets and flowers than making money!" "That's the nicest thing you've ever said to me," replied his father. Next morning as they travelled, a blinding flash split the clouds, followed by a low rumble, then the sky grew black. "If we'd hurried we'd have missed this storm," grumbled the boy. "Slow down, son, you'll last longer," his dad replied.

Hope

Posted by yomcat 20:18 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (3) | Serious Stuff
Is it stupid to hold on to some hope?
I mean, most of the stuff I have some sort of hope for, I know it won't happen. And when it doesn't, it feels so bad. I'm getting tired of it. I could just give up hope, but that seems even more stupid. I'm confused. (More)

Everyone else (well, my entire collection of RSS feeds. So that's all the important non-ygn hosted blogs) is doing personality posts. So I'll jump on the bandwagon and have a go.
Yup, my personality has changed. I look back at how I was a few months (even weeks or days) ago and get disgusted. For example, I'm not nice, I'm sincere. So if I do compliment you, I mean on. On the other hand, if I insult you, I probably mean it as well. (More)

I'm here at Uni. In the holidays. Bored (waiting for work). But I have a Dominion Post (for free. Yay (-:). So instead I went up to the Mac lab, and am using the Internet (NZ sites only, no https, so not the best) and getting generally bored. I'm on an eMac, with a screwed up version of Tiger.

One of the most important things you have while flatting is the house key. Forget it, and you are basically screwed. However, I somehow still managed to forget mine on Sunday evening, when I went to church.
I had just spend a large portion of time in deep thought (Michael is not yet ironed out. Give me time.) on the bus and the walk up the hill. I realised that I had forgotten my key awhile back, sometime on the bus. However, I still believed that a "back door" was available and I would be able to get in without any problems... (More)

This song rings so true with mi at the moment. I need a mental vacation. The amount of stuff I've been through recently is taking it's toll, and I'm getting pissed for no reason, trying to do stuff that I know I can't do, and just generally being an arsehole.
The only problem is that I can't afford to take time off. I need to stay in Wellington pretty much all holidays (flatmate hunting and men's group mainly) and even if I could leave, I can't afford it. There is no work, and surviving on just a loan is bloody hard work... (More)

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.
One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room.
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.
One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what's true,
One life can make all the difference,
You see, it's up to you!

My diet

Posted by yomcat 11:50 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (1) | Serious Stuff
My diet can be summed up in one word: crap. Its useless. My main meal of the day, is the BK I have for lunch. Not only is it getting expensive, its not good for me. My body is complaining bitterly. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had a decent dinner within the last couple of weeks (since the Friday before the sleeping in the closet incident, which is also the day Uni stopped). It's very, very bad. (More)

Everybody wants to be thin, but nobody wants to diet. Everybody wants more money, but nobody wants more work. Successful people form the habit of doing things unsuccessful people don't like to do. The bookends of success are - commitment and consistency! Without commitment you'll never start. Without consistency you'll never finish. Getting started is the hard part. That's because we've so many reasons not to start. So, here are some helpful suggestions: (More)

It's true. Today, at home, my computer starting making odd noises and then just died. No more computer for me. So I won't update my blog (both in software and content) for awhile, I guess. I'll try to get something that works soon. I still have the Hard Drive from my old comp, so that's good. A nice quote

Posted by yomcat 02:17 | Permalink Permalink | Comments comments (2) | Serious Stuff
I've been reading "the Narrow Road" recently. It's the text of "God Smuggler", Brother Andrew's book. I've read God Smuggler before, and picked this copy up after doing the Narrow Road cycle tour at the beginning of 2003. I biked from Paraparaumu to Lower Hutt.
The reason I was reading this book, apart from that it's a great story, was to find a quote. I found it, and it's slightly different to what I remember, but still cool. In a way, it proves that I speak two languages (three really, but I won't delve into that too deeply). (More)
