In case you haven't noticed, I haven't blogged for a little while. Zero, because I got sick of Josh going one about Jumping the Shark (in other words, I ran out of ideas for lists a few lists ago). One (I'm counting like this because it's how I number my matrices because it's how range(n) works), blogging takes too long. Two, micro-blogging (Twitter) is easier. (More)31 Oct, 2009

It all started when our predictably heroic hero, yomcat, woke up in a swamp. It was the tenth time it had happened. Feeling barely worried, yomcat grabbed a dull pencil, thinking it would make him feel better (but as usual, it did not). A few unsatisfying minutes later, he realized that his beloved iPod Touch was missing! Immediately he called his annoying neighbor, Woman. yomcat had known Woman for (plus or minus) 20 years, the majority of which were exotic ones. Woman was unique. She was charismatic though sometimes a little... oafish. yomcat called her anyway, for the situation was urgent. (More)08 Oct, 2007

And it's going to be a cool quote from the newspaper today. About the upcoming soccer world cup.Football fans are seeking divine intervention on behalf of the England World Cup team.
The Church of England says it has had more than 4000 visits to the prayers section of its website after it posted two World Cup prayers last month calling for God's blessing on the England football team.
A Church of England spokesman said this represented a 28 per cent increase in visits compared with the average of the past four months.
"The Church often provides specially written prayers to mark major national events, and the World Cup is no exception," he said.
"After all, you don't find many atheists during penalty shoot-outs." - PA

yomcat has no Internet for the next two weeks. Because yomcat's flatmate doesn't know how peer-to-peer software works and leaves it running all day, using up 20GB (that's right. 20GB) of bandwidth in one day. Which is my entire monthly allotment. Time to set up rules and fancy stuff. And moan at flatmates for using up all my Internet. So yeah. Don't email me, you won't get a reply. Don't text me, I'll probably ignore you. Good people (though not the best) will be there, and I get to share a bus with Ivan and various other people. The other people will be heaps more fun. And they dropped the Op Shop Ball (it seems) for some hip-hop thing. Losers. I like Late 80 Mercedes. Who else could have a song with a line such as "Why do you think God gave you legs, walk into my kitchen and cook me some eggs" and have lots of people charge each other down (and "hug") Braveheart-style?. That was one good time. (More)12 Jan, 2006
Okay. As you should know, I don't sleep here that much. Just two nights a week (and only one of those will be in my bed this weekend thingy). A battleship had been at sea on maneuvers in heavy weather for several days. Visibility was poor because the fog was thick and patchy, so the captain of the ship remained on the bridge. Shortly after dark the ship's lookout reported seeing a light in the direction of the starboard bow. "Is it steady or moving astern?" asked the captain. "Steady, Captain," came the reply. After further watch the captain knew that they were on a collision course with this other ship, so he called out to the signalman, "Signal that ship: We are on a collision course. Advise you change course 20 degrees." (More)18 Jul, 2005

Anyway, I was just eating, minding my own business (like I'm so great at doing), when a bunch of girls from Wellington Girls walked past. As they do, at around 1600. (More)06 May, 2005
Now that I have some sort of income kinda, I can start saving for stuff. Mr Tightarse is born. But it's worth what I want. It is a Laptop. But it must be a Mac. And since I'm not a normal user, the iBook just doesn't cut it. I need some grunt and serious good looks. (More)05 May, 2005
I'm sitting here, at some insanely early hour, eating icecream. In the middle of my meal, I can to a realisation. It's time to maybe start about possibly getting a haircut sometime. This radical change of mind was forced upon me by the discovery of upwards of 1 piece of my hair in my icecream. I have now put a cap on (backwards of course) and stopped running my fingers through my hair. And I'm running out of icecream. And because this is such a crap suburb, I can't walk to Pak'n'Save (or Woolworths) and just buy some more. I have to survive without icecream. This is gonna be hard.So I'm thinking about the possibility of maybe getting a haircut done sometime.

I have iPods powered by both now. And Firewire 400 wins everytime. It's taking far too long to load up my iPod Shuffle. Damn slow thing. Gimme a real iPod, with Firewire, anytime. It's faster to load up my iPod with all my music than to Autofill my iPod Shuffle. So Firewire is faster than USB 2.0, not matter what the theoretical numbers say. In this case, 480 < 400.05 May, 2005

I received this in an email:This survey is being conducted by Victoria University in an effort to establish how our students are managing the transition to being a university student. We want to do all we can to help you attain your academic goals at Victoria while enjoying all aspects of university life. All first year students have been asked to complete this very short questionnaire. We have no way of identifying respondents so the survey is completely anonymous and your participation is very much appreciated (More)

More fun at the launch. A Dual 2.5Ghz G5 with Tiger, a 30" (bloody huge) monitor and 1.5GB RAM. So we did the speed test:cmd-shift-a; cmd-a; cmd-o
It was fast. 9.57 seconds, to be exact. I can't compare this to my computer, because I have an overly bloated Applications folder (77 items) and nowhere near enough RAM to do it in anywhere near a decent amount of time.

Me and Ash had lots of fun. And Jo had lots of fun with his camera. I was only opening a box. But this was no normal box. This box is black, with a large silverish X on it. And inside, there was Tiger. The first piece of software that is 100% mine, that I've brought. The others (Studio MX 2004 - Jo owns half) and (Office 2004 - I won it). It was a momentus occasion, as can be seen when I finally stop rambling and post the photos. (More)01 May, 2005

They were handing out free Iced Coffee flavoured Up 'n Gos at Uni today. I got two, and had them for breakfast. They are foul. I still have a bad aftertaste in my mouth almost 30 minutes later. They are not worth it. All it succeeded in doing was making me despise coffee even more than before. But, they were free. That's always a huge plus. And I will grab them again if they keep handing them out. Because of the "free food" thing. I like free food, and it's an almost certain way of getting me to do something. HURRICANES!!!!!!!. If you can read that, you don't need glasses. Congratulations. They won. Again. 26-24. And Lome scored a try. That was awesome. I would normally try to find a video clip, but I'm being a lazy bastard and can't be screwed. Next game is the 22nd. CU camp is also the 22nd. I don't think I'm going, but go the Hurricanes again. Then they play the Brumbies (who are the useless defending champions).
As a nice side effect, the Hurricanes are now top of the Super 12 table. And this new way to do posts in pLog is gay.

I would swear Andy is trying to posion my delicate metabolism. He fed me avacado. Not only does it taste like crap, it's snob food. I cannot stomach snob food. Like asparagus rolls and avacado. If it's an "acquired taste" (ie, tastes like crap), I don't acquire the taste. He's even putting avacado in the salad he's cooking. I would normally eat a little salad (it's not a BBQ away from home), but probably not this time. I think I'll stick to bangers and mash. That ain't snob food. Just like greasies, pizza and pies. I like my cheap, nasty food. I've been brought up on it, and eat nothing else. Which is one of the reasons I don't like restaurants. The other is "dress code", which is also a load of bollocks.Oh, we're not having bangers and mash. I was interrupted in the middle of this post to head downstairs and try to fix the oven. Failing to do so, Andy is frying the sausages now, instead of grilling. So weird bangers and mash and salad with eww stuff in it. Will be interesting...

I have discovered a fact: In all the near crashes I can recall (most of them have taken place in the last few days) I have been the cause. That's bad. There was the time I was distracting the driver. And the time I headed down Devon St without looking or breaking and almost hit a car (closer than the previous incident. I'm worse on my bike than people in cars). And the people I've almost hit when heading down hills getting to Uni. I'm a bad driver. But I have yet to be hit. And I get 17 days off until I need to bike to Uni again (excluding assignment hand-in and heading to work and stuff). I guess I'll end up getting hit eventually. If you're the driver that ends up hitting me first, congratulations. I'm swift and now have iPod pumping out phat beats. I'm also very agile on my bike. And my brakes are great for skidding. I guess I'll stop rambling about nothing and let my downloading (which is legal) continue. Leaving this computer alone is hard, but Carman is pumping downstairs (Addicted to Jesus just finished, and something good (aka Sunday School Rock) is up soonish). Later.

In a few weeks, Wash is playing in Wellington, with some band called "agent'c". On the same day, a couple of people I know are having a birthday. Wash are awesome, but friends are higher up the pecking order than music (friends and family come second only to God), and Music is around 4 or 5 or something. For lower priorities, I get confuddled. According to this, I should go and be socialbe, even if it means missing a Wash concert, which I know will rule big time. It's a dilemna, but I should have no problems. (More)22 Mar, 2005
Not 66/40 or anything that's actually cool, 42/10. The sleep patterns I had over the last weekend. It all started at 0630 on Friday, when I woke up to have a shower (yes, I had a shower) and walk to Uni. That was fine, and then it was off to work. 4.5 hours later, I got back to my flat, and found that it was clean. Not a bit of mess to be seen in the lounge. And the dishes were done. So I had nothing to do, prior to the flat warming. (More)13 Mar, 2005
After the success of the Tomato Sauce Sundae, we got another one. This time, the same guy was there, and he remembered us. However, tomato sauce was not good enough, so we got cheese and mustard. One of the girls ate a small mouthfl, including some cheese, and said she'd throw up if she ate any more. I ate the lot, and it was good. The mustard was McDonald's mustard, so not very good (I didn't scrape it out of the plastic thingy that the sundae came in) but it went well with the icecream. I dunno what we'll do next time. Andy (who never saw the tomato sauce one) suggested gherkins, or a toy. I'm not sure, but I may not be able to eat those. We'll see some other Saturday later on in the year...07 Mar, 2005

Yesterday, at Macca's, some girls thought it would be funny to order a tomato sauce sundae. After lots and lots (and a bit more) of discussion, they eventually asked. We had the required money between us, so we got it (eventually). The girls refused to eat it, so I did. It was great. The two flavours didn't mix well at all, so it just tasted like real bad tomato sauce (which it was) and ice-cream. I don't think many people believed that I could actually eat it. Some other girls thought it was disgusting, but I didn't care.Next time, it's mustard.

It was last night. It was full of non-teenagers. The "pit", for the lads bit, consisted of a few people (under 30) and there were quite a few people there. Our group was the pit. It was great fun. The Lads played the wavy hand song, and a few others. It was a World Vision concert, so there was an obvious emphasis on that. The concert started at 1900. I was there at 1815 (and I only sorta ran across SH1. Only the two lanes that aren't really SH1 but close enough to still be part of it). I had work, over the gorge, and got a ride up and down again. I just listened to the songs I have from Behind the Musik and waited. Bayliss showed up quite a bit later (closer to 1900) and we went in. I loaded his bag full of stuff (I had come straight from work) and went and waited for Robyn and Matt. They showed up about when they said they would (5 past 6, but I was guessing Robyn screwed up :-)) and in we went. Ash showed up sometime as well, as did Graeme. We went and took our seats at the front. (More)

My iPod died yesterday, so I plugged it into the old G4 to attempt to fix it up (OS 9 still does have some uses). It only had 11.27 GB avaliable, so I thought something was up with it storing files. I then backed up all the files on it (mainly every single file I've downloaded since January last year, and a few work-related ones), unplugged it nad took it through to the other office. Plugged into the eMac, and its working fine now (yay). I then decided to clear out the trash. The iPod had 11.27GB free, and the eMac had 11.84GB free. 12,000 or so files later, the iPod had an extra 8.62GB avaliable. It seems that the iPod's file structure is much like OS X's, and the files get dumped into a trash can, which is accessible from whatever user/computer the iPod is plugged in to. In this case, it was my user on the eMac.As a nice side effect, the eMac also freeded up 6.99GB extra, which is quite alot of trash to have. I really should empty it more often.
