Day 89 - Green
22 October 2014, 08:50

Canon EOS 70D, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens, 1/125 seconds @ f/7.1, ISO 100.
Got green as the word today. When I came home, after puzzling how to isolate something green (I was thinking a typical “flower in grass” shot in reverse), I saw that Melissa still had cling-ons from her frolicking in the lawn. So I made her go out into the sun so I could take a nicely lit photo of it.

Day 88 - Jewel
21 October 2014, 07:28

Canon EOS 70D, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens, 1.6 seconds @ f/20, ISO 1250.
My tripod doesn’t stand very still. It might have helped if I had taken the battery pack off. Though I couldn’t get the mirror to stop smacking the camera around, which doesn’t help. I also know it’s oriented incorrectly. The transpose is left as an exercise.
I’ve increased the size of the images I upload. Still tiny, but they’re now no longer than the short side of screen.

Day 87 - Rattle
20 October 2014, 10:07

Canon EOS 70D, Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II USM lens @ 200mm, 1/80 second @ f/4.5, ISO 4000.
That’s my new rattle, recently returned from the shop.

Day 86 - Daisies
10 October 2014, 07:42

Canon EOS 70D, Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II USM lens @ 180mm, 1/400 second @ f/5.0, ISO 100.
Walking home, I saw some daisies in direct sunlight, so shot them. No word today as I forgot.
The small (1024px max) previews I upload don’t show the full power of my shots. I think this will be another case in which the insane detail gets lost in the compression. Maybe I should upload larger previews. Though you can also see stuff like colour bleeding (ugh) and it’s much more obvious when focus misses. I’ll think about it.

Day 85 - Red
9 October 2014, 09:14

Canon EOS 70D, Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II USM lens @ 70mm, 1/60 second @ f/2.8, ISO 1250.
So yesterday’s word was ennui. I took some photos (one of which “works”), imported them into Lightroom and then got bored. Yeah…
Today, I was given red. So I made Melissa put on some red and we went up to Uni to drop some stuff off and look for a wall (I showed her some poses that work on walls), and we found a cliff instead. With a nice view of Wellington in the background. Throwing all the wall planning out, I went for a “looking over the city” look. I also have one with a terrible facial (good blackmail material).
And then I dropped my flash. Oops.
That bright building in the background is somewhat distracting, but I couldn’t get rid of it in Lightroom (I don’t understand how the brushes work at all yet).
