Photo Challenge Week 22 - Backlit: Translucent Nature

This week, the challenge was to get some translucent nature, by using backlighting.

As soon as I saw this, I knew I’d be after birds. The weather all week has been horrible, but it’s cleared up nicely for the long weekend (Chatham Cup on Monday, yay). I spent a good 30 minutes last night in my back lawn trying to catch a seagull or a pigeon, but with no luck. So today, instead of shooting a football game (I had pretty much decided I wasn’t going to be anyway), I went up to Zealandia where there are lots of birds. While there were lots of birds, there were also lots of trees and lots of clouds, so finding a backlit bird with translucency was difficult. On the way out, there were some kaka flying way up high, so I chased them around the sky a bit. This is the best I came up with (modulo the brief).

I’ll put a full album of the real birdies later. In theory.
