Day 23 - Modified Torch

I know that framing is bad. My L lens is too heavy for my tripod, which isn’t that surprising. It is a heavy beast. And I’m not really interesting in framing this well anyway.
I’m shooting my second event (yay) on Saturday, and went to check out the venue today. One word: Dark. So I need to think up some solutions to the lighting problem. One I saw in a video once is torches. So I got me a torch and turned out the lights, so the only light source was it. It would have been easier with an assistant, but that was not to be. The torch will work quite well, as long as I only use the corona (so not the correct word, but close enough) to add additional light to the subject.
I then had a play with a few things lying around the spare room. A vuvuzela directs the light very well. For this photo (finally), I used an empty brown bottle to colour the light. It turned the bright white to a pleasing yellow, and the subject (toilet paper, though I was told to use a “turd in toilet” also) is lit nicely, which means the torch-bottle was aimed just in front of the subject, standing to the side.
For the event, I’m probably going to add a speedlight and a f/1.2 lens to my f/2.8 zooms and nifty fifty. I might be looking for a model on Saturday afternoon so I can play with it.
